Name: James Dean Kimbrough Hometown: Pensacola, Florida Birthdate: June 4, 1991 Height: 5' 9" Weight: 170 Education: Currently enrolled Pensacola Junior College 2009 Graduate of West Florida High School of Advanced Technology. DIRT EXPERIENCE James' first experience was in a Stinger car at the age of 13 on a Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, Alabama. The following week on September 16, 2004 Hurricane Ivan came to town. James had to put his racing on hold for a few months while the town cleaned up from this natural disaster. In spring of 2005 James returned to Flomaton and won his first heat race. His next move was to Southern Speedway in Milton, Florida where even after missing the first 7 races of the season he still had great success. James won numerous heat races and 3 feature races on his way to finishing 3rd in points. ASPHALT EXPERIENCE In the winter of 2005 James entered his first asphalt race in the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Florida. He qualified 9th our of 56 cars. Beginning in March 2006, a rookie in the Bomber division, James started racing his way to his first championship. In doing so he won a total of 4 feature races , his first on asphalt , and became the youngest driver to win the Bomber Championship in track history. That same season he traveled to Mobile International Speedway and won 4 feature races and placed 4th in points. In 2007, James experienced a huge learning curve when he moved from Bombers to Super Stocks. He gathered 2 heat race wins, five top 10's and placed 5th in points. He also ended the year with a 3rd place finish in the Snowball Derby. This was accomplished by passing 2 cars with 3 laps to go. In 2008, James used his 2007 super stock experiences to win back to back feature races. One of these wins came in the mid season 50 lap feature race where James quailed on the pole. This lead to James' second championship title in his career. This 2009 racing season has brought James great fortune. In his first race James was ecstatic to find himself in Victory Lane. So far, in seven races, he has obtained five top 5's and seven top 10's. With the last 100 lap race of the season coming soon he is looking forward to making his first attempt at the Snowflake 100 in the annual Snowball Derby weekend. Updated: Feb 8, 2010 |
